EXCELLENT Based on 112 reviews Posted on Google Hemma PatelTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Dom has been great at helping to relieve my neck pain and headaches. After only a few sessions, my headaches have stopped. He listened to what I wanted or didn't want as part of my treatment and made me feel comfortable.Posted on Google Max SimpsonTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Had recurrent hamstring and lower muscle injuries for years as a rugby player working a desk job. Dom pointed out several factors that were causing the injuries I wasn’t aware of and his treatment has loosened up my entire posterior chain. Have been able to play with much lower rate of reoccurrence and at a higher level when I thought I was needing to retire at 27. Just finished an entire season injury free at 30.Posted on Google Demitri EliadesTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Great professional service, very knowledgeable. I have had many physical issues throughout my life whether it be a knee a hip, a neck or an ankle Dom is the guy. If you have any pain or alignment issues, then I would highly recommend this incredibly skilled man. I trust him 100% with all problems. Please note that he is also an incredible massage therapist and probably one of if not the most intuitive therapists I have ever had the pleasure of seeing, which in my case is literally hundreds. You don’t even have to tell him where that point is that you want him to massage or touch he will find it instantly. He’s incredibly geeky and 100% nerd worthy. He knows his stuff and is clearly an expert. Full of beans and positive energy. Plus, he’s built like a rugby player so no matter what your size he can do the job. You literally won’t get any better service from anyone else. Genuinely how I feel. Thanks Dom.Posted on Google David ThomasTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Dom has a brilliant demeanour; approachable, super knowledgeable and calming - this helped so much with understanding of my injury and return timelines. Having injured my shoulder playing rugby, I was struggling to exercise in any capacity, particularly playing rugby. Dom quickly diagnosed the injury and set out a plan for return to exercise. With Dom I was able to return to exercise with confidence and have had no problems since. Being an osteopath, Dom was able to perform manual therapy through dry needling and soft tissue manipulation in each session, which I am sure made a difference.Posted on Google Isobel Astley-CooperTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. What Causes Neck Pain?
Neck pain can develop for many reasons, and identifying the right cause is essential to treating it effectively. At Move Easy Osteopathy in Bristol, we see neck pain caused by:
- Muscle tension and postural strain by far the most common cause. Hours at a desk, looking down at a phone, or sleeping in an awkward position all create sustained load through the neck muscles and joints
– Facet joint irritation the small joints between each vertebra can become stiff, inflamed, irritated or locked, causing sharp localised pain and restricted movement
– Disc herniation or bulge a disc in the cervical spine can press on nearby nerve roots, causing pain, tingling, or weakness into the arm
– Whiplash sudden acceleration-deceleration of the neck, most commonly from a car accident, can cause widespread soft tissue and joint damage
– Cervicogenic headaches headaches originating from the neck, often felt at the base of the skull, behind the eyes, or across the forehead
– Osteoarthritis age-related wear and tear in the cervical spine causing stiffness, grinding, and sometimes nerve irritation
– Stress and tension chronic stress causes the muscles of the neck and upper shoulders to habitually tighten, creating a cycle of tension and pain
– Sports and training injuries impact, overload, or poor mechanics during sport or gym training
Getting an accurate diagnosis from the outset saves time, money, and unnecessary suffering. Many people put up with neck pain for months before seeking help — the sooner you come in, the easier it is to treat.
Accurate Diagnosis
Through a detailed case history and accurate examination, we establish you a thorough diagnosis.
Expert Treatment
Tailored hands-on treatment helps the root cause of your issue, providing pain relief and improved function.
Bespoke Rehabilitation
Lifestyle advice and exercise prescription improves mobility and strength and gets long-lasting results.
If you’re experiencing arm symptoms alongside your neck pain (tingling, numbness, or weakness) this suggests nerve involvement and you should seek assessment promptly.

How Osteopathy Treats Neck Pain in Bristol
Osteopathy is highly effective for the majority of neck pain presentations. Rather than just treating the painful area, we look at the whole picture — how you move, how you sit, how you sleep, and what’s driving the problem.
Your treatment plan at Move Easy may include:
Joint mobilisation and manipulation.
Precise, controlled techniques to restore movement in stiff or restricted cervical joints. This is one of the most effective treatments for acute neck pain and cervicogenic headaches.
Soft tissue treatment
Targeted work on the muscles of the neck, upper back, and shoulders — releasing tension, improving circulation, and reducing pain.
Medical Acupuncture
Particularly effective for chronic neck tension and headaches. Fine needles applied to trigger points in the neck and shoulder muscles produce rapid, lasting relief for many patients.
Neural Mobilisation
Where nerve irritation is contributing to arm symptoms, gentle nerve mobilisation techniques help restore normal nerve movement and reduce symptoms.
Exercise Rehabilitation
Weak deep neck flexors are one of the most common findings in chronic neck pain patients. We prescribe specific strengthening and mobility exercises to correct this and prevent recurrence.
Lifestyle and Postural Advice
If your neck pain is driven by how you sit at work, we’ll assess your posture and give you practical advice on screen height, chair setup, and movement habits that make a real difference.
How Long Does Neck Pain Take to Recover?
Acute neck pain (sudden onset, short duration) often significant improvement within 2–4 sessions
Postural or work-related neck pain responds well but requires addressing the underlying cause; typically 4–6 sessions plus lifestyle changes
Chronic neck pain (months or years) takes longer, but meaningful improvement is still very achievable
Whiplash recovery varies considerably depending on severity; most people respond well to a structured osteopathic programme
Nerve-related neck pain with arm symptoms can take longer; we’ll monitor progress carefully and refer on if needed.
Most patients notice improvement after their first or second session. We’ll be honest with you from the start about what’s realistic for your specific situation.
We see patients from across Bristol, including Clifton, Redland, Cotham, Whiteladies Road, Gloucester Road, Stokes Croft, Westbury Park, the City Centre, Bedminster and Totterdown.

Neck Pain and Headaches- The Connection
This is one of the most underdiagnosed relationships in musculoskeletal health. Cervicogenic headaches (headaches caused by the neck) are extremely common but are frequently misdiagnosed as tension headaches or migraines.
The upper three cervical vertebrae refer pain to the head. When these joints or the surrounding muscles are irritated, the result can be a headache often felt at the base of the skull, behind one eye, or across the forehead.
If you have both neck pain and regular headaches, osteopathy can address both simultaneously. Many of our patients who’ve struggled with headaches for years find significant relief once the neck is properly treated.
Neck Pain FAQs
Can an osteopath help with a trapped nerve in the neck?
Yes. Nerve root irritation in the cervical spine, causing pain, tingling, or weakness into the arm, is something we assess and treat regularly. Treatment focuses on reducing pressure on the nerve, restoring joint movement, and rehabilitating the surrounding muscles. If symptoms are severe or not responding, we’ll refer you for imaging or specialist review.
Should I use heat or ice for neck pain?
For acute neck pain in the first 48-72 hours, ice can help reduce inflammation (20 minutes on, 20 minutes off). After that, heat is generally more effective for muscle tension. We’ll give you specific advice based on your presentation.
Can I make neck pain worse by coming in?
No. Osteopathic treatment for neck pain is safe and gentle. We always work within your comfort level and adapt our techniques to your presentation. Some mild post-treatment soreness for 24-48 hours is normal and is a sign the body is responding.
Is neck pain related to my posture?
Very often, yes. Particularly for people who work at a desk or spend significant time on phones or devices. Some sustained postures overload the cervical spine and is one of the common drivers of chronic neck pain. We’ll assess your posture and give you practical advice.
Do I need a GP referral?
No. You can book directly with us. We’re a primary contact profession and registered with the GOsC.
How much does it cost?
£65 for an initial appointment. Follow-up appointments are £50.
When Should You Seek Urgent Help for Neck Pain?
Most neck pain is not serious. But seek urgent medical attention if your neck pain is accompanied by:
– Loss of bladder or bowel control
– Severe headache that came on suddenly (“thunderclap headache”)
– Numbness or weakness in both arms or legs
– Neck pain following significant trauma (fall, accident)
– Fever, unexplained weight loss, or pain that is constant and unrelenting regardless of position
Call us if you’re unsure and we can help you decide the right course of action.
