EXCELLENT Based on 112 reviews Posted on Google Hemma PatelTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Dom has been great at helping to relieve my neck pain and headaches. After only a few sessions, my headaches have stopped. He listened to what I wanted or didn't want as part of my treatment and made me feel comfortable.Posted on Google Max SimpsonTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Had recurrent hamstring and lower muscle injuries for years as a rugby player working a desk job. Dom pointed out several factors that were causing the injuries I wasn’t aware of and his treatment has loosened up my entire posterior chain. Have been able to play with much lower rate of reoccurrence and at a higher level when I thought I was needing to retire at 27. Just finished an entire season injury free at 30.Posted on Google Demitri EliadesTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Great professional service, very knowledgeable. I have had many physical issues throughout my life whether it be a knee a hip, a neck or an ankle Dom is the guy. If you have any pain or alignment issues, then I would highly recommend this incredibly skilled man. I trust him 100% with all problems. Please note that he is also an incredible massage therapist and probably one of if not the most intuitive therapists I have ever had the pleasure of seeing, which in my case is literally hundreds. You don’t even have to tell him where that point is that you want him to massage or touch he will find it instantly. He’s incredibly geeky and 100% nerd worthy. He knows his stuff and is clearly an expert. Full of beans and positive energy. Plus, he’s built like a rugby player so no matter what your size he can do the job. You literally won’t get any better service from anyone else. Genuinely how I feel. Thanks Dom.Posted on Google David ThomasTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Dom has a brilliant demeanour; approachable, super knowledgeable and calming - this helped so much with understanding of my injury and return timelines. Having injured my shoulder playing rugby, I was struggling to exercise in any capacity, particularly playing rugby. Dom quickly diagnosed the injury and set out a plan for return to exercise. With Dom I was able to return to exercise with confidence and have had no problems since. Being an osteopath, Dom was able to perform manual therapy through dry needling and soft tissue manipulation in each session, which I am sure made a difference.Posted on Google Isobel Astley-CooperTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Common Pregnancy-Related Conditions We Treat
Pregnancy-related pain is extremely common but often undertreated because women are told there is little that can be done. In our experience, that is rarely true. The following are conditions we treat regularly and successfully at our Bristol clinic:
Pelvic girdle pain (PGP)
Pelvic girdle pain is one of the most common and debilitating pregnancy-related conditions, affecting up to one in five pregnant women. It causes pain in the front of the pelvis, the sacroiliac joints, the buttocks, and sometimes the inner thighs. It is typically worse with walking, climbing stairs, turning in bed, and standing on one leg. Without treatment, pelvic girdle pain can significantly limit mobility and quality of life during pregnancy. Osteopathic treatment can reduce pain considerably and improve function, allowing women to remain active and comfortable for longer.
Lower back pain
The combination of a growing bump, hormonal changes that increase joint laxity, and a shift in the body’s centre of gravity places significant strain on the lower back. Lower back pain affects the majority of pregnant women at some point and can range from mild discomfort to severe, limiting pain. Osteopathic treatment addresses the mechanical causes of lower back pain during pregnancy and provides significant relief for most patients.
Sacroiliac joint pain
The sacroiliac joints, which connect the pelvis to the base of the spine, are particularly vulnerable during pregnancy due to the effects of the hormone relaxin on ligament laxity. Pain in these joints is felt in the lower back and buttocks and is often mistaken for general back pain. Targeted osteopathic treatment to the sacroiliac joints and surrounding structures is very effective for this condition.
Round ligament pain
Sharp, stabbing pain in the lower abdomen or groin, typically felt when changing position quickly, coughing, or sneezing. Round ligament pain is caused by stretching of the ligaments that support the uterus and is very common in the second trimester. While it usually resolves on its own, osteopathic treatment can help manage associated pelvic and abdominal tension.
Rib and mid-back pain
As the uterus grows and pushes upward, the ribcage expands and the thoracic spine is placed under increasing load. This commonly causes pain and stiffness in the mid-back and ribs, and can make breathing deeply uncomfortable. Gentle osteopathic techniques to the thoracic spine and ribs can bring significant relief.
Sciatica and nerve pain
Sciatic pain during pregnancy is common and can be caused by pressure on the sciatic nerve from the growing uterus, changes in posture, or piriformis muscle tightness. It causes pain, tingling, or numbness that travels from the lower back or buttock down the leg. Osteopathic treatment can reduce sciatic symptoms significantly during pregnancy.
Neck pain and headaches
Postural changes during pregnancy, combined with the effects of poor sleep and fatigue, frequently cause neck pain and headaches. These respond well to gentle osteopathic treatment and postural advice.
Carpal tunnel syndrome
Fluid retention during pregnancy can compress the median nerve at the wrist, causing pain, tingling, and numbness in the hand and fingers. This is particularly common in the third trimester. Osteopathic treatment to the wrist, forearm, neck, and thoracic spine can reduce symptoms considerably.
Accurate Diagnosis
Through a detailed case history and accurate examination, we establish you a thorough diagnosis.

Tailored hands-on treatment helps the root cause of your issue, providing pain relief and improved function.
Bespoke Rehabilitation

Frequently Asked Questions About Pregnancy Pain
Is it safe to see an osteopath during pregnancy?
Yes. Osteopathic treatment is safe throughout pregnancy and is used by many pregnant women to manage musculoskeletal pain. We adapt our techniques to suit your stage of pregnancy and always work within your comfort level. We are highly trained experts and put your comfort first.
When in pregnancy can I start treatment?
You can see us at any stage of pregnancy, from the first trimester onward. We adjust our assessment and treatment approach according to how far along you are. We are particularly cautious in the first trimester and many pregnant women decline treatment at this stage. We can discuss this with you.
Can osteopathy help with pelvic girdle pain?
Yes. Pelvic girdle pain is one of the conditions we treat most frequently during pregnancy and one that responds very well to osteopathic treatment. Early treatment gives the best results, so we encourage women to seek help as soon as symptoms develop rather than waiting to see if they resolve on their own.
Do I need a referral from my midwife or GP?
No. You can book directly with us. We recommend letting your midwife or GP know you are receiving osteopathic treatment, but you do not need a referral to book.
Will treatment be uncomfortable?
We use only gentle techniques during pregnancy and always work within your comfort level. Some patients experience mild soreness after treatment, similar to the feeling after a massage, but this settles quickly. Most patients find treatment very comfortable and leave feeling significantly better.
Can you treat me if I have pregnancy complications?
It depends on the nature of the complication. We will always take a full history before treating and will advise you honestly on whether osteopathic treatment is appropriate for your situation. If in doubt, please contact us before booking and we will be happy to discuss your individual circumstances.
Can you treat postnatal pain after birth?
Yes. We see many new mothers in the weeks and months following birth for postnatal recovery treatment. There is no minimum waiting time after birth before you can see an osteopath.
How quickly can I get an appointment in Bristol?
We aim to offer appointments within a few days. If you are in significant pain, please let us know when you book and we will do our best to see you as soon as possible.
Postnatal Treatment
The physical demands of pregnancy do not end at birth. Labour and delivery place significant strain on the pelvis, lower back, and pelvic floor, and the postnatal period brings its own challenges, including feeding posture, lifting, carrying, and disturbed sleep.
We see many new mothers in the weeks and months following birth for postnatal recovery treatment, including treatment for ongoing pelvic girdle pain, lower back pain, neck and shoulder pain from feeding, and general musculoskeletal recovery.
We also treat babies following birth using gentle cranial osteopathy, which can be helpful for babies who are unsettled, have feeding difficulties, or show signs of discomfort following a difficult delivery.
If you are a new mother in Bristol looking for postnatal osteopathic support, we would be very happy to help.
